DESCRIPTION:SBSPCR conducted a series of Extension lectures by Prof. Arindam Chakrabarti\, Nirmal and Augustina Mattoo\, Endowed Chair\, Indic Humanities\, Department of Philosophy\, Stony Brook University (SUNY) and Professor of Philosophy in Hawaii University on the topic ‘Philosophy of Bhāgavatapurāṇa’ as a part of the course titled ‘Introduction to Purāṇas: Agnipurāṇa\, Viṣṇupurāṇa & Bhāgavatapurāṇa’ offered to the first semester students of M.A.\, Hindu Studies (Sanātana). The lectures were conducted online on 17th Oct. 2022 & 11th and 18th Nov. 2022.

SUMMARY:Educational field trip to Nalanda
DESCRIPTION:An educational field trip to Nalanda was organised on Saturday\, 12th November 2022\, for the 3rd Semester students of SBSPCR. Students and faculty members were picked up from the Interim Campus and their respective hostels\, and the trip left from the NU main campus around 7:30 am. \nThe group reached the temple of Rukmini Sthan\, and a brief description of the artistic importance of the specific stylistic image of the Buddha was given to the students. After this visit\, the group departed for the Nalanda Museum. After the museum visit\, the group departed for the visit to the ruins of Nalanda. The students had a guided visit around various sites and the surrounding area of Nalanda ruins. \nThe purpose of this trip was to give the students exposure to a contextualised understanding of Buddhist art\, architecture\, and the associated ritualistic and meditative practices that happened in the vicinity of ancient Nalanda and its surroundings. During this trip\, students were exposed to one of the most important ancient seats of learning\, its history\, landscape\, monuments\, and sculptures. They also participated in the enriching talks and insightful discussions.
