One-Week Translation Workshop

September 22–27, 2025

Nalanda University, Rajgir Organized by the School of Languages and Literature/ Humanities in collaboration with the National Translation Mission (CIIL, Mysore)

The one-week Translation Workshop brought together eminent scholars, translators, and students for an intensive exploration of translation as a bridge between languages and cultures. Led by experts such as Dr. Winston Cruz, Dr. Biswadeep Gogoi, Geshe Lungtok Sherap, and Dr. Pooja Dabral, the sessions covered themes from linguistic theory and cultural translation to Buddhist text traditions and machine translation.

Participants engaged in translating literary works from Kannada, Odia, Bangla, Bhojpuri, Punjabi, Dzongkha, and Burmese into English and Hindi. The workshop fostered cross-cultural understanding, academic collaboration, and appreciation for India’s multilingual literary heritage.

Six-Day Maithili Training cum Workshop on Testing & Evaluation

Nalanda University, Rajgir Organized by the School of Languages and Literature/ Humanities in collaboration with the National Testing Service–India (CIIL, Mysuru)

A six-day hybrid workshop on Testing & Evaluation and Item Writing in Maithili was successfully held at Nalanda University. The programme aimed to strengthen pedagogical and assessment frameworks in Maithili language education through interactive lectures, demonstrations, and practical exercises. Experts, scholars, and educators engaged in discussions on linguistic evaluation methodologies and best practices.

The workshop provided participants with hands-on experience in item construction and testing design, marking a significant step toward advancing linguistic research, capacity building, and academic collaboration in Indian language education.
