Educational field trip to Nalanda

An educational field trip to Nalanda was organised on Saturday, 12th November 2022, for the 3rd Semester students of SBSPCR. Students and faculty members were picked up from the Interim Campus and their respective hostels, and the trip left from the NU main campus around 7:30 am.

The group reached the temple of Rukmini Sthan, and a brief description of the artistic importance of the specific stylistic image of the Buddha was given to the students. After this visit, the group departed for the Nalanda Museum. After the museum visit, the group departed for the visit to the ruins of Nalanda. The students had a guided visit around various sites and the surrounding area of Nalanda ruins.

The purpose of this trip was to give the students exposure to a contextualised understanding of Buddhist art, architecture, and the associated ritualistic and meditative practices that happened in the vicinity of ancient Nalanda and its surroundings. During this trip, students were exposed to one of the most important ancient seats of learning, its history, landscape, monuments, and sculptures. They also participated in the enriching talks and insightful discussions.
