Dr Anurag Tripathi

Dr. Anurag Tripathi is an accomplished academic with deep expertise in international relations, particularly within the context of Indo-Eurasian dynamics. He serves as an Associate Professor in the Department of International Studies, Political Science, and History at Christ University, Bengaluru, and Karnataka. His career also includes a tenure as a Visiting Professor at L. N. Gumilyov Eurasian National University in Nur-Sultan, Kazakhstan, and an Associate Fellowship at the Center for G-Global and Global Silk Road Projects Development in Astana, Kazakhstan. Additionally, he has contributed as a Research Associate at the Institute for Conflict Management (ICM) in New Delhi.

Dr. Tripathi’s academic journey is distinguished by his educational background at the School of International Studies (SIS) at Jawaharlal Nehru University (JNU), where he earned his MA, M.Phil. and Ph.D. His doctoral research focused on Kazakhstan-China relations from 1991 to 2009, with a particular emphasis on Xinjiang. His scholarly work is widely recognized, with publications in leading journals, magazines, and newspapers such as Economic and Political Weekly, Central Asia and Caucasus, Austral Brazilian Journal, Deccan Herald, Indian Outlook, Eurasian Review, South Asia Monitor, The Kashmir Telegraph, International Institute for Counter-Terrorism (ICT) Israel, and New Age Islam. Dr. Tripathi has also edited two volumes on foreign policy in collaboration with the United Service Institution (USI) in New Delhi.

His research interests are broad and encompass major power interests in Central Asia, particularly in the context of China’s rise, Chinese policy in Xinjiang, India’s Central Asia policy, and security issues in South and Central Asia. Dr. Tripathi has led significant research projects funded by the Indian Council of Social Science Research (ICSSR) and international bodies, focusing on topics such as Bharat-Eurasia shared histories, Indo-Central Asia relations, and the impact of climate change in Eurasia. Through his work, Dr. Tripathi has established himself as a leading voice in the study of politico-security and economic affairs in the South Asian and Central Asian regions.
