Dr. Satyanarayan Shashtri is an Associate Professor in the School of Ecology and Environment Studies at Nalanda University, Bihar, India. He previously worked at the Fiji National University in Fijias an Associate Professor (Feb 2016 – Jan 2023) and as an Assistant Professor (Aug 2014 – Jan 2016)at the Department of Meteorology and Environmental Science, School of Applied Science. in the College of Engineering Science and Technology. He was teaching (Post-Graduate Diploma in Environmental Conservation and Climate Change, Bachelor of Science in Environmental Sciences, and Bachelor of Science in Environmental Management) and Global Insight Students from Canada. USA, and Mexico (MOU between FNU and Global Insight). He also developed and designed the Post Graduate Diploma in Environmental Conservation and Climate Change (2017) and the Master’s and Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.) programs. Prior to that, he worked at Jawaharlal Nehru University. New Delhi, 110067, India, as a Research Associate, teaching undergraduate students in Applied Environmental Sciences and as Post-Doctoral Research Associate on “Geomorphology and Lineament Mapping of Assam, India” sponsored by the Department of Space, Indian Space Research Organization (ISRO), Government of India, in the Remote Sensing Lab, School of Environmental Sciences at Jawaharlal Nehru University, New Delhi.
He has eight years of administrative experience as the Head of the Department of Meteorology and Environmental Science (Jan 2015-Jan 2022) and as an FNU Senate member for two years.
He is an Environmental Specialist in teaching, researching, enforcing, and implementing sustainable techniques for natural resource management. Dr.Shashtri is an expert in Geospatial techniques, hydrology, geochemical processes, earth processes, atmospheric science, and global climate change.
He has published more than twenty-five research papers in peer-reviewed international journals. He is the Associate Editor of the section Advances in Groundwater and Built Environment in the Frontiers in Environmental Science Journal.
He is an expert in the applications of Remote Sensing and GIS Analysis of Satellite Images for the Delineation of Groundwater Exploration and Recharge, Geomorphological feature mapping. and Hazard Zonation mapping for biodiversity conservation. His key teaching and research areas include Remote Sensing and GIS, Land use and Land cover, groundwater exploration and management, Sea Level Rise Impact on Small Islands in South-Pacific, Ridge to Reef conservation, and change detection analysis for long-term and short-term projects.
