Dr. Yen. Brenda Ly is an accomplished Assistant Professor specializing in Pali at Nalanda University’s School of Buddhist Studies, Philosophy. and Comparative Religions. She holds a Ph.D. in “Psychosomatic Studies on Nama and Rupa in reference to Abhidhamma” and an M.Phil. in “Interpersonal Relationship in Buddhist Perspective found in Pali Nikaya” from the Department of Buddhist Studies at the University of Delhi. Additionally. she has a Master’s degree in Buddhist Studies with a focus on Pali-based Buddhism and a Bachelor’s degree in Sanskrit and Tibetan-based Buddhism from Vietnam Buddhist University in HoChi-Minh City. Dr. Brenda actively engages in research and has presented her research papers at various international and national conferences. Some of her notable research papers include “Relevance or Buddhist Meditation lor Healthcare Professionals” and “The Concept of Wellbeing in Buddhist Teachings according to Pali Literature.” among others. She has also published a book on “Psychosomatic Studies on Narna and Rupa in Reference of Abhidhamma.” In her role as an instructor at Nalanda University for three years. Dr. Brenda has taught diverse courses such as Ancient Religions in Asian Countries. Buddhist Psychology, Teachings of the Buddha & Fundamental or Buddhism. Theravada & Mahayana Schools of Buddhism: Tenets & Tradition. Peace and Harmony in Buddhism. Pali Literature. and Pali language. Beyond academia. she has served as a Dhamma teacher and Vipassana meditation instructor for Vietnamese and other communities in Canada and the USA. Dr. Brenda also brings experience from the health science field. particularly in psychiatry and gerontology in Fraser Health Authority in British Columbia, Canada. Her expertise and contributions have led to invitations as a Guest lecturer at Arunachal Pradesh University AUS. where she delivered a lecture on Buddhist Psychology in April 2023. Overall, Dr. Brenda Ly’s work showcases her dedication to the study of Buddhism, both academically and in practical applications like meditation and mental health.
