Geshe Lungtok Sherap. from Drepung Loseling Guge K.hamtsen, holds Geshe Lharampa degree – the highest degree conferred upon a monk in Gelug sect of Tibetan Buddhism – equivalent to a doctorate in Buddhist Philosophy. He has been conferred this prestigious degree by Gelugpa University in 2020 after a rigorous six-year process, which included extensive revisions through the Geluk Board Exam. Furthermore. he has dedicated a comprehensive 20 years to the thorough study of the Five Major Buddhist Treatises of Nalanda tradition, namely Abhidharma, Vinaya, Paramita, Madhyamika, and pramana at Drepung Loseling Monastery, South India. These deep studies have solidified his expertise in the field of Tibetan literature and Buddhist philosophy. In particular, his specialization lies in the work of Dharmakirti’s Commentary on Dignaga’s “Compilation of Valid Cognition” pramana-samuccaya, known as pramana-varttikakarika, as well as Chandrakirti’s Madhyamakavatara, traditionally considered a commentary on the profound teaching of Nagarjuna’s Mulamadhyamakakarika in Tibetan translations. In terms of work experience, he has been a teacher for philosophy and Tibetan literature at Drepung Loseling Buddhist Cultural School and Loseling Meditation & Science Centre from 2012 to 2023. Additionally, he has contributed as a translator, editor, and compiler for Pre-primary English books (Volume I & II) of the Loseling monastic school.Co-writer of an anthology on Aryadeva’s Four Hundred Stanzas on the Middle way in 2019. Trainer for Tibetan Language Workshop organized by Department of Education, CTA in collaboration with Drepung Loseling Monastery in 2023.
