Nalanda University was established in November 2010. The University came into being by a special Act of the Indian Parliament – a testimony to the important status that Nalanda University occupies in the Indian intellectual landscape. Nalanda is a stand alone international university unlike any other established in the country.
Nalanda University has been established as an International University pursuant to the decision taken in various East Asia Summits by an Act of Parliament entitled ” The Nalanda University Act, 2010 (No. 39 of 2010)
Nalanda University, being public authority as defined in Section 2(h) and in pursuance of provisions of Section 4 (1)(b) of Right to Information Act, 2005, intends to make available the information under the prescribed Manual, through its website to enable the citizens to access the information under the control of the University, so as to promote transparency and accountability in the working of such authority.
It is hoped that the information presented to the public through this University Website would facilitate the citizens to access information through electric mode, thereby avoiding, to the extent possible, inconvenience to ask formally for such information as may be already open to them. While compiling the information due care has been exercised. However, if any mistake has crept in due to inadvertence, it is subject to correction.

CPIO, Nalanda University , Rajgir, District Nalanda, Bihar – 803116, India - The fee prescribed for filling an original application i.e Rs. 10/- and other fee for obtaining the information may be deposited by way of each against proper receipt or by demand draft or bankers cheque or Indian Postal Order Payable to ‘Nalanda University’ at ‘Rajgir’.
