  • Early explorations and rediscovery, Overview of major excavations, Stratigraphy, and periodization
  • UNESCO World Heritage Site tag to Nalanda
  • 2. Monastic Structure/Stupa Architecture
  • Site Planning Layout of the monastic complex, entrances, main temples and votive shrines/stupas,evolution and multi-phase constructions, cells, verandahs, kitchens, storage, teaching platforms/podium and auditorium
  • 3. Building materials and Techniques
  • Use of Bricks, lime mortar, stone, dimensions of buildings
  • Sculpture and Iconography –Stone, Stucco, and Metal
  • Major Iconography style: Buddhist, Brahmanical, and Jaina images
  • 4. Ancient Water Management Systems
  • Wells, drainage, tanks, ponds, and water channels, ancient hydrological system
