COURSE OBJECTIVE
After completing the Certificate Course in Geoinformatics:
- Understand various components of Geoinformatics.
- Develop a concept of its advantages and diverse applications
- Explain various types of spatial data and sources of raster and vector data.
- Elaborate categories of GIS software and apply their advantages.
- Knowledge about the source of metadata.
COURSE OUTLINE:
- This course aims to introduce the concept, overview and focuses on the application of Geoinformatics in engineering, geology, environment, mining, agriculture, social sciences, archaeology and natural resource management.
- It is designed to provide students an understanding of the key principles of remote sensing and GIS and a practical understanding of the application for visualization and analysis through both theoretical and practical activities. Additionally, students will get a functional understanding of at least one GIS software package.
LEARNING OUTCOMES:
On successful completion of this course, students will be able to:
- Apply the principles of spatial data presentation as generic and specific purposes.
- Demonstrate knowledge and understanding of the principles and applications of spatial data analysis.
- Apply geospatial techniques in Urban Planning, Climate Change, Natural Disaster Mitigation, and Socio-Economic Studies.
- Analysis the Impact of climate change on public health, land system, biodiversity and water resources with the help of geospatial tools.
- Produce comprehensive reports of all stages of the project, using computer based tools to present any text and graphical information.
