Course Introduction:

The course titled ‘Diploma in Sanskrit Language and Literature’ aims to familiarise the students about the fundamentals of the Sanskrit language and the study of selected portions of different texts. The courses are spread over in two semesters i.e. fall semester and spring semester. The name of the courses are ‘Sanskrit Language’ and ‘Sanskrit Language and Literature’ in both the semesters respectively. The courses highlight the literary treasure of Sanskrit composed by ancient ācāryas from time to time. The students will be able to know about the Ancient Indian Knowledge Systems and also have acquaintance on the different concepts/ ideas of Sanskrit Language and Literature. The students will read different modules in both the semesters.

Objectives:

• To introduce the advance level of learning of the Sanskrit Language and Literature.
• To teach the students how to make words out of different sandhis and samāsas.
• To educate the students about the Linguistic approach of Sanskrit.
• To manifest the literary treasure of Sanskrit through study of selected verses Vedic sūkta, Upaniṣads, Sanskrit Kāvya, Dharmaśāstra, ethical literature.
