Tricolour of Unity and Vision

Nalanda University celebrated India’s 79th Independence Day with patriotic enthusiasm and cultural vibrancy at its green and sustainable net-zero campus. The ceremony began with the hoisting of the National Flag by Vice Chancellor Professor Sachin Chaturvedi, followed by the National Anthem.
In his address, Vice Chancellor Professor Sachin Chaturvedi extended warm Independence Day greetings and reflected on the University’s commitment to linking Nalanda’s ancient legacy of knowledge with the vision of Viksit Bharat. He highlighted the importance of sustainability, inclusivity and global dialogue in shaping the nation’s future.
The occasion was marked by the presence of distinguished guests whose insights enriched the celebration. Shri Abhay K., Writer, Poet & Seasoned Diplomat, spoke about India’s civilizational continuity and unveiled his poetic work “Nalanda,” a tribute to the timeless pursuit of knowledge. Dr. Hemang Jani, Secretary of the Capacity Building Commission, emphasized the vital role of institutional innovation and human resource development in nation building. Shri Vivekanand Pai, eminent educationist, shared his thoughts on nurturing value-based education and ethical leadership. Veteran journalist & noted educationist Shri Manohar Shinde reflected on the media’s responsibility in fostering informed citizenship and strengthening cultural understanding.
The formal proceedings concluded with a colorful cultural programme featuring performances by Indian and international students of Nalanda University. Patriotic songs, classical and contemporary dance pieces, and artistic presentations celebrated India’s unity in diversity and Nalanda’s global community spirit.
The Independence Day celebrations at Nalanda University beautifully embodied the values that define both the institution and the nation. The event reflected freedom as a shared moral responsibility, one that calls upon every individual to contribute meaningfully to the collective progress of society. It emphasized knowledge as a bridge to peace, reminding all that education fosters understanding, tolerance, and cooperation among diverse communities. Through this spirit of learning, the celebrations reaffirmed Nalanda’s longstanding belief that intellectual exchange is the foundation of harmony and mutual respect.
