General

1. What is the Library timing/working hour?

Ans.Library is open from 8:30 AM to 8:30 PM from Monday to Friday;
On Saturday, Sunday, and other holidays, will remain open from 09:00 AM to 06:00 PM.

2. How do I access the library resources?

Ans.You can access the library resources by following way

For physical material.

All physical materials are spread over library, the journals/magazine, newspapers, reference books and gifted books are kept in extended section of library.

For E-Resources/Databases

Most of the e-resources are IP authenticated and you can access the same from anywhere within the campus. For more details about e-resources/databases please visit library website under the Resource – E- Resources menu.

3.Where should I mail my reference query?

Ans.Reference & Information Service is another value added service of the Nalanda University Library. It satisfies the specific information need of the users. This section promptly makes available books, journal articles, reports or data/statistics, etc. to the users, which are currently not available with our library. For this service, library use to send information request to the other networked institutions/libraries or publishers. Anyone can send their Reference query to

4. Can I get a photocopy of a book?

Ans.You can get photocopy from the textbook as per copyright law and the maximum of 30 pages per day.

Circulation

1. How can I access the Library Catalogue?

Ans.You can access the library catalogue through https://lib.nalandauniv.edu.in/
and E-resources through Discovery Service –
https://nalandauniv.summon.serialssolutions.com/

2. Where can I return a book/s?

Ans.You can return the book/s at circulation counter only.

3.How can I renew book/s?

Ans.You can renew book/s through the online catalogue using your library ID number and password OR visit library circulation counter.

4.Which resources I cannot borrow?

Ans.The resources which you cannot borrow are new arrival displays, current journals, CDs/DVDs, Rare books, Private collections, Reference materials and Thesis and Dissertations.

5.How do I reserve/hold book/s?

Ans.You can reserve/hold a book/s through the online catalogue. Please note that you can reserve a book/s only if it is checked out.

Resources

1.How do I access the journal online?

Ans.Online Journals can be accessed through the library webpage under the Resources – E-Resources menu.

2.What are the reserve sequence materials?

Ans.Reserve sequence materials are recommended reading suggested by a faculty for particular periods. The same copies are available at circulation desk as reference. Such materials cannot be borrowed.

3.Do I need to come to Library to access the databases?

Ans.Most of the databases subscribed by library are IP enabled so you can access the same from anywhere within the campus.
