Dr. Veena Mushrif-Tripathy

Dr. Veena Mushrif-Tripathy is an Associate Professor in Physical Anthropology at the Department of AIHC and Archaeology, Deccan College Post Graduate and Research Institute, Pune. With 16 years of teaching experience, she specializes in Bioarchaeology and Palaeopathology, focusing on human skeletal studies. She has supervised two completed and five ongoing Ph.D. students and collaborates with national and international institutions, including Appalachian State University, University of Florida, Harvard University, University of Cambridge, and the University of Sydney. Her ongoing projects include investigating the historical trade of Indian teaching skeletons with the University of Sydney, a National Geographic Society project on human skeletal remains from Old Lady Spider Cave in Ladakh, and the analysis of burial sites in Keeladi, Tamil Nadu. She has authored six books and published over 50 research papers in national journals and 22 in international journals. Her Research significantly contributes to understanding past human populations, health, and cultural practices.
