Professor Chandrashekar Rao

Professor N. Chandrasekhara Rao is an economist with extensive experience in agricultural economics, development policy, and applied microeconomics. Prior to joining Nalanda University, he served as Professor at the Institute of Economic Growth (IEG), New Delhi, and was a faculty member at the Centre for Economic and Social Studies (CESS), Hyderabad, and Cornell University, Ithaca. His research focuses on agricultural development, agri-food value chains, technological change and innovation, labour markets, and poverty reduction. He has authored influential books on biotechnology, agribusiness, and food systems, and his current work examines the transformation of India’s agri-food systems. At Nalanda University, he teaches the core Microeconomics sequence, integrating economic theory with contemporary policy and development challenges.
