External Affairs Minister Smt. Sushma Swaraj Meets Nalanda University Governing Board Members

The External Affairs Minister, Smt. Sushma Swaraj and Minister of State Shri M. J. Akbar met Nalanda University’s Governing Board Members earlier today.
Also present were Foreign Secretary Dr. S. Jaishankar and Secretary (ER) Amar Sinha. The Vice Chancellor Designate Professor Sunaina Singh and the Interim Vice Chancellor Professor Pankaj Mohan were also a part of the meeting.
Addressing the Governing Board Members, Smt. Swaraj said, “Nalanda has been revived to serve as an intellectual bridge between India and East Asia and is a symbol of India’s soft power. Government is fully committed to the Nalanda vision and Nalanda will definitely revive the centuries old inter-Asian Connections.”
The following members of the Governing Board were present for the meeting: Shri N.K. Singh, Former Member of the Upper House of the Indian Parliament; Laos PDR Ambassador to India Mr. Southam Sakonhninhom; Shri Chanchal Kumar, Principal Secretary to Chief Minister, Govt. of Bihar; Shri Kewal Kumar Sharma, Secretary HRD; Professor Lokesh Chandra President, Indian Council for Cultural Relations and Dr. Arvind Panagariya Vice Chairman, Niti Ayog.
